Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford is set to go ahead tonight, despite a Covid-19 outbreak in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Up to three members of Solskjaer’s backroom staff have been forced to self-isolate after coming into close contact with an individual that had tested positive for coronavirus.

The coaches tested positive for Covid-19 and did not travel to Turin for Thursday’s 4-0 win against Real Sociedad.

In a brief statement, United confirmed that Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will join Solskjaer on the bench this evening as replacements.

‘Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the bench this evening due to some of the coaching staff having to self isolate,’ a statement read.

‘The home Premier League game against Newcastle United at Old Trafford will kick off at 19:00 GMT.’

The Red Devils are looking to capitalise on dropped points from top four rivals Liverpool and Chelsea this weekend.
