Inter Milan are confident of signing Chelsea and Italy left-back Emerson Palmieri this summer, bringing his underwhelming stay at Stamford Bridge to an end.
The 26-year-old has been at Chelsea since January 2018 but has rarely been able to hold down a place in the first team under Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard or current boss Thomas Tuchel.
Emerson has made just 70 appearances in all competitions, 32 in the Premier League, of which just two came this season, with Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso competing for the left-back berth.
Despite his lack of action in west London, the full-back is stil highly rated in Italy and has made their squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Sky Sport Italia report that Inter are keen to bring him back to Serie A, where he previously played for Roma, and replace the departing Ashley Young.
The veteran Englishman is leaving the Serie A champions on a free transfer this summer after a successful stint at the club.
Emerson is available for transfer, especially as he only has one year left on his contract at Chelsea so they will want to cash in on him while they can.

Inter will be hoping that his contract situation, and the fact he has contributed so little for Chelsea of late, means that the Italy international will be available relatively cheaply, certainly for less than the €20m the Blues paid in 2018.
It may have been a season to remember for Inter, winning Serie A, but they are now in limbo after the departure of manager Antonio Conte.
Simone Inzaghi is set to take over after leaving Lazio, ending a five-year stint in charge of the club.
