Coldplay have announced their much-anticipated collaboration with K-pop superstars BTS.

The single, My Universe, will be released on September 24.

The track, which is sung in both English and Korean, was written by Coldplay and BTS and produced by Max Martin.

The announcement was made via a statement on Coldplay’s Twitter account on Monday afternoon, which shared the single’s artwork and was re-tweeted by BTS.

It also directed fans to a link to pre-order the song,

My Universe follows Coldplay’s worldwide hit Higher Power as the second single to be taken from the band’s forthcoming album Music of The Spheres, which will be out shortly after on October 15.

All of Coldplay’s past albums have reached number one in the UK, and the band have topped the singles chart twice too with Viva La Vida in 2008 and Paradise in 2011.

Higher Power peaked earlier this year at number 12.

BTS, meanwhile, are on a global chart stampede as they enjoy international success like their new rock colleagues.

As well as two UK number one albums so far, the band are the best-selling artists in South Korean history and the first all-South Korean act to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with their record Dynamite.

Since then, they’ve clocked up a further four US number one singles with Savage Love, Life Goes On, Butter and Permission to Dance, the latter of which was co-written by another British superstar, Ed Sheeran.

Ed is currently enjoying an 11 week stretch at number one in the UK singles charts with Bad Habits, the lead single from his hotly-anticipated album = (pronounced ‘Equals’), and second release Shivers, which looks set to usurp Bad Habits from the top spot.

Fans may be anxious over what the plans for BTS’s looming South Korean military service are, but for now the band is continuing their assault on the charts and show no sign of slowing down.
